How to make the most of your time when you're sick

If you know me, or you have been keeping up with my blog, you will know that I am the master of getting every single bug on the planet. When you get a cold that often, staying in bed for a week gets pretty boring but when you feel this groggy there isn't much else to do, right? Wrong. I have a selection of activities to undergo whilst you're under the weather that will make you feel less bored and more productive.

This is definitely my number one activity. It requires no use of the mouth so if I have a sore throat, I'm okay. When I'm ill I like to catch up with my novel reading or just scour Bloglovin' to find some useful blog posts. If you check out my Bloglovin' you'll see I've accumulated plenty of others posts that are really inspirational.

Just listening to music can be really fun, even if you can't sing because you're throat is killing or you can't dance because you may think you're going to keel over. I've been listening to some great music from Rhodes and I've also spent hours listening to Ludovico Einaudi - beautiful.

If you're a workaholic, you may struggle with being ill because you don't like missing out on anything work related. From the comfort of your own bed you can write emails and you if you have a remote login, you can even do all your normal work from home too. I used to do this whilst I had a job, so I wasn't missing out on pay but I was still able to rest at home. It also is useful if you're someone like me who can never find enough time to blog to just have a few days in bed to just write. When I'm ill I usually have so many ideas so I like to write them out as soon as possible.

Films and TV

Being ill is an excuse for Netflix. There are so many online sites full of awesome TV series (I'm talking Breaking Bad, Orange is the New Black, Pretty Little Liars) and there are so many films too. We've just upgraded our Sky box so now we have access to on demand, catch up and loads of movies. I've recently watched If I Stay and I balled my eyes out at half past 8 in the morning.

Don't forget, you are unwell, so resting is pretty essential. Sometimes after resting for too long in my pyjamas, with no make up on and greasy hair I feel a little bit...rough. I love just having a long soak in a Lush bath, listening to soft music and then giving my hair a wash. Sometimes I like pampering myself a bit more and I'll do my nails and put on a face mask too to give myself a little TLC.

I was definitely saving my best to last. Playing the Sims 4 is definitely a necessity in my "being ill" routine. In your normal days you don't really have much of an excuse to play the Sims for hours on end so when you're ill, make the most of it.

What do you like to do whilst being ill?

  1. I certainly would be a couch potato if I was sick. When I'm sick, I couldn't seem to find the energy to read or do anything else..
